iCreate helps build the innovators of our future through simple technology that bridges hands-on exploration with digital creativity.
iCreate was founded in 2010 by Melissa Pickering, former Walt Disney Imagineer, a job title often referred to as “roller coaster engineer” or the “dream job.” However, she pursued her dream of enabling K12 classrooms to access tools that would engage and foster students’ inherent creativity, unleashing the potential for every child to one day pursue such a career as Imagineering.
By commercializing a simple software grounded in educational research by Tufts University and the National Science Foundation, iCreate has been able to help teachers and parents alike innovate their classrooms and homes around the world, tapping into every child’s imaginative and creative spirit.
While stop-motion animation is the core concept powering iCreate’s software and app, the true value lies in the hands-on creation, simple user-interface, and cross-curricular integration — three elements that make for a learning experience that’s meaningful and fun.
iCreate’s current portfolio of products include SAM Animation (originally under Tufts ownership, now fully owned by iCreate), and myCreate iPad app. In 2013, iCreate will continue to build out its products, all centered around kids blending the physical and digital worlds to create.
